Mission 2 Africa, or M2A for short, is a CLF Christian mission initiative that aims to reach underprivileged children, young people and adults across West Africa.
Starting with The Gambia, the M2A team plan to establish child sponsorship proragmmes, centres for training, including apprenticeship programmes, traineeships and more, in a country where over 60% of the population is below the age of 25 and have an overall 55% literacy rate.
The World Factbook states that: “Since the 1980s, economic deterioration, drought, and high unemployment, especially among youths, have driven both domestic migration (largely urban) and migration abroad (legal and illegal).”
Following on from a successful first visit in 2016, in November 2017, 5 will return to the mission field in The Gambia to begin the first bank of missions work, collaborating with local agencies to investigate viable options for a successful apprenticeship scheme.
M2A is seeking support from the UK public to help fund the trip and ongoing work in The Gambia with a series of events in summer/atumn 2017. As such we invite you to join us on in Reaching The Gambia – in a series of fundraising activities.
This will start on Saturday 26th August with a 5km sponsored walk at Danson Park, Bexleyheath, London. Support our 5 ladies hoping to raise a minimum of £500. To sponsor our ladies or for more details, click here >>
Then on September 16th at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Hermon Hill, South Woodford, the team will host a Welcome to The Gambia – an evening of food, culture and celebration, seeking to raise awareness of the profile of the country we will serve. (more details to follow)
The fundraising drive will conclude on October 14th with a follow-up event in South London. (more details to follow)
